CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING 19/11/2025 - NEWS: NEW PLAY AREA OPENS / EVENTS: LIGHT SWITCH ON DATE / SURVEY; CONSERVATION AREA/ MORE

A section from a report to Wakefield Council.  It shows children enjoying the new play area at the Valley Gardens, Castleford.

19 November 2025 Compiled by Tony Wallis of 'Talk Castleford with Tony’

Good morning.

It’s good to see the Valley Gardens new play area has been installed. Supported by myself and my colleagues, as the local ward councillors, and created by the council and the Friends’ group, this is a wonderful family asset in a park close to the town centre.

I found last night's Castleford Historical Society talk about "Made in Yorkshire" interesting. It is surprising how many famous names were or are based in our county. The society will be releasing its list of 2026 talks, open to the public, soon.
