CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING 14/11/2025 - CHILDREN IN NEED TODAY / ANOTHER NEW PLAY AREA OPENS / NEWS / EVENTS
Please support Children in Need today
14 November 2025 Compiled by Tony Wallis of 'Talk Castleford with Tony’
Good morning, thank you for joining me in another look at what’s happening in and around Castleford.
Before we dive into the latest local stories, community updates, and a whole mix of Castleford goings-on, I want to begin with something that brings out the very best in people across the country: Children in Need.
I'm may be cold and wet outside but today is one of those days when you feel the warmth travelling between households, workplaces, schools and streets. It’s a day when people quietly do something kind, or loudly do something brave, with the aim of helping children who deserve a chance to thrive. Whether you’re wearing spotty socks, baking buns, running a challenge, or simply popping money in a collection tin, you are part of a great national effort that changes children's lives. Any support, big or small, is deeply appreciated. Every gesture creates ripples of hope.
In today’s roundup you’ll find a little bit of everything: the good news that the Valley Gardens play area is now open, inspiring achievements, developments that will brighten family days out, opportunities for local businesses and jobseekers, events to look forward to, reminders that keep us all organised, and a few snippets that you might want to pass on to friends or neighbours.
One of the joys of putting these briefings together is knowing they spark conversations. That’s why I want to invite you, warmly and wholeheartedly, to leave a comment today. Share your thoughts, your memories, your concerns, your hopes, or even a few words of encouragement for others. It doesn’t have to be polished or profound—just real. When you comment, you’re not only helping me understand what matters to residents, but you’re also helping fellow readers feel part of something shared, a community that listens to each other.
When you’re ready, scroll through the full post, click the links that catch your eye, and if something stirs a thought or raises a smile, leave a note in the comments on the blog or facebook. It would be wonderful to hear from you.
