CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING OF NEWS AND EVENTS 7 OCTOBER 2025
Compiled by Tony Wallis of 'Talk Tony with Castleford'
Traffic lights because of gas works are operating at the George V roundabout. There are traffic queues, especially at peak times, on Holywell lane, Pontefract Road and Park Road. The works are expected to last until 15th October 2025.

Do you or any relative have fond memories of the glass works? My parents met at Lumbs Glass Works just after the war so, I have fondness for the site. I'm pleased that local historian David Pickersgill is working with Castleford Heritage Trust on a project to celebrate the town's glass history (see 'news' below.) I hope as many people as possible take part to produce a loving memento of this important industry.
