This year’s Castleford Roman Festival is on 31 May 2025 from 10am to 4pm.

Activities include: guided tour of Roman Castleford, street show, crafts, hunt for treasure in the archaeological dig, Romam demonstration.

Ebb and Flow by Annie Harrison is is at Queen’s Mill until 9 May 2025. Annie walked alongside the River Aire from Mytholmroyd to Hull passing through Castleford. The centrepiece of the project is a panoramic textile artwork tracing the full river route. Open Mon to Fri 9am to 4pm.

Residents turned out in force to mark the 80th VE Day anniversary, while families enjoyed a record-setting Roman Day. Plenty of good news: a fresh look for our buses, more police on our streets, awards for our children’s homes, and appealing public art.    80th ANNIVERSARY VE DAY On Thursday 8th May, I stood at Castleford War Memorial as wreaths were laid in memory of the fallen. Moments like these remind us of the great sacrifices made and the importance of not forgetting them.
