Today the Christmas lights switch on and White Ribbon Day. 16 Days of Action against domestic abuse starts today, White Ribbon Day. Unfortunately, abuse against others, especially women and girls, still occurs at various degrees within our communities. This year’s White Ribbon theme is “Stand Up”. It’s not just about expressing opposition to abuse. It’s also about making it known by action that such behavior is not acceptable.  Most men abhor abuse against women and girls. We men need to get it across to those few that don’t that such behaviour is hurtful and will not be tolerated.  We must also acknowledge that men and boys can be victims too so, this is about making society safe for all.
