CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING 14/12/2025 - NEWS AND EVENTS

15 December 2025

Compiled by Tony Wallis of 'Talk Castleford with Tony’

Good morning, Castleford, keep dry.

As a dedicated councillor, I start my day searching social media and my emails to find useful information about Castleford. A while I ago, I decided to share that knowledge with my residents so that we could all join in talking about the town - its successes, shortcomings, and its future. This is ‘Talk Castleford with Tony’.

As part of that project, I publish these posts, ‘Castleford Daily Bulletin’, on my blog. From this week, I am replacing this daily bulletin with a twice weekly blog called ‘Talking Cas’.

This change will give me time to put more quality as well as quantity into each post and design the blog to be more engaging.

It means I can also develop the ‘Talk Castleford with Tony’ brand on social media (such as Instagram and Facebook).

After 25 years serving the people of Castleford, I have realised, as politics has changed,  it’s time to step down as a councillor here. However, I still care about my town. This project ’Talk Castleford with Tony’ - including ‘Talking Cas’- is not party political.

Politically, I have accepted the challenge to stand as a 2026 candidate at Knottingley and Ferrybridge, where my family live, because I have encountered concerns in that ward that need addressing.

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to leave a comment or visit my Facebook page to continue the conversation.
