CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING 12/12/2025 - COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS - JUMPERS AND NATIVITIES - NEWS AND EVENTS
12 December 2025
Compiled by Tony Wallis of 'Talk Castleford with Tony’
Good morning, Castleford.
Christmas has well and truly arrived. You can feel it in the air, can’t you? The lights, the chill, the sense that something special is on its way.
Did you take part in Christmas Jumper Day yesterday? If you did, I hope it kept you snug as well as festive. It’s always good when a splash of colour and humour brightens up a winter’s day.
And speaking of festive traditions, were you one of the proud parents or grandparents in the audience of a school nativity? If so, you’ll know exactly what I mean when I say those little angels have a remarkable ability to bring a tear or two to the eye. There’s something wonderfully uplifting about their singing, their ability, even the odd difficult line. It’s great to see schools finding creative ways to involve more children, rather than sticking rigidly to Mary, Joseph, and just three wise men.
In today’s local news, I was especially pleased to read that Donna Wilson of the Forever After Collective has been honoured for her hard work and dedication. Forever After, on Carlton Street, is a real gem in our town - a welcoming home for creativity and imagination. It’s a personal favourite of mine, a place I encourage people to support. If you’re looking for a Christmas gift that’s a little bit different and has real heart behind it, you could do far worse than pop in and take a look.
As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to leave a comment or visit my Facebook page to continue the conversation.
