CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING 8/11/2025 IMAGINATION LIBRARY CROWDFUND APPEAL / NEWS AND EVENTS

Dolly Parton Imagination Library Crowdfunding announced

8 November 2025 Compiled by Tony Wallis of 'Talk Castleford with Tony’

Good morning. If you’re in town this morning please support Castleford Male Voice Choir’s service of Remembrance in the Market Hall. The free concert starts at 11am.

It’s not just talking that gets people together, there is also reading. Today the Dollywood Foundation, Spectrum CIC and Wakefield Council launch a fundraiser to provide under 5s with free books. This introduces the children of Castleford and the district to the joy of reading and expanding their imagination. More under “News’ below.

Yesterday was the PACT meeting where the police meet the public. One of the main concerns was speeding cars causing damage and even injuries, with at least one fatality within the past year. Do you agree that speeding cars are a problem on your road? Should the strict restrictions on speed cameras be relaxed?
