More Than Books: Castleford Libraries Keep Communities Warm
Good morning. Welcome to the doorstep of winter. The weather is starting with that familiar crisp edge; the kind where you reach for a scarf or a warm mug of drinking chocolate. As the nights draw in, we begin to notice the small things that make a difference: a warm room, friendly chat, a sense of belonging.
While browsing today’s stories, one announcement stood out to me — Wakefield Libraries are once again taking part in this winter’s *Warm Spaces* initiative. It’s a simple idea, but one that carries real heart: offering a welcoming place for anyone who needs warmth, comfort, and company through the bitter cold months. Once again, our libraries are showing they’re far more than shelves of books. They’re about people, about community, about looking after one another.
I’d love to hear your thoughts:
Are you making use of your library’s services?
Do you think our libraries are meeting local needs? Could they do more?
