Good morning, people of Castleford. 

Are vape shops and barbers damaging to the high street? Has the change in former council homes to a landlord, still based locally but moving away from the council, a good thing for the district? Are digital ID cards a benefit or a danger to the public? These are some of the issues debated at yesterday’s council meeting. What are your views?

Tonight is the "Reclaim the Night" walk in the district. starting at 6pm at the WX, near Wakefield bus station, and due to end about 8.30.  As part of the 16 days of action, the march is to highlight the need for women and girls to be safe at night. Similar events are being held in West Yorkshire's other districts. How safe do you feel in city and town centers at night?

Let me know your bonfire night tales. Today, two good news items about improving our town centre. The third of three murals has been given the go ahead. This is for the Bancroft Road subway. The subway has had a reputation for being unfriendly but this news marks a positive change. I'm looking forward to the 'Destination Castleford' boards. What do you think of the idea?
