MY WARD REPORT AS COUNCILLOR - OCTOBER 2025
COUNCILLOR TONY WALLIS - OCTOBER REPORT
Council meeting
As usual, I supported all our resolutions including our concern about the dispute at the mining museum. What’s happening there, is atrocious. The guides deserve the pay rise they are entitled to.
I asked 3 questions to cabinet members including the street safe plan for young people and health checks at Castleford library.
Wakefield District Plan 2025 to 2035
The plan has been published. It has 6 pledges:
- More good jobs and thriving town centres.
- Great opportunities for children and young people.
- Better health and wellbeing for all.
- Tackling climate change and protecting green spaces.
- Stronger, more welcoming communities.
- Local services that really work for people.
Parking
Two hours free parking has been introduced.
Valley Gardens play area.
This is progressing well. I expressed my appreciation at council for the Friends of Valley Gardens. I also asked the cabinet member to visit Redhill Avenue play area as the residents’ group feel it is time for renovation.
Local business
I have been talking to some businesses about their concerns. Its good that businesses are teaming up with the civic society’s litter picks.
Regards,
Tony
