CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING OF NEWS AND EVENTS 16 SEPTEMBER 2025

 Compiled by Tony Wallis

Yet another shop in Castleford town centre has closed (see below), this time after going into administration. There are questions to ask - why are shops in the town that seem to be trading well closing? If it's just on-line shopping to blame, why aren't all shops closing? Why, when closures by a retail or bank change are announced, it's nearly always ones in Castleford that are on the list? This is a conversation we need to have.

Every morning I compile a helpful briefing of the latest news and events for Castleford. Initially intended to help me as a local councillor, I now publish it to the public. I hope you find it useful.

This is now part of a wider conversation about the town that will cover social media platforms.
