Half term leading up to Halloween has many activities for kids to enjoy. Today's big event is the Tolkien one at Castleford Library.  See ‘Events’ below.

The council have asked me to promote a drop in event about the proposed conservation area in the town centre. The will be in the Market Hall on Thursday (30 October 2025) from 9am to 1pm. This is in addition to the public meeting at Trinity Church on 13th November 2025 and the online consultation. More information under ‘Surveys’ below.

Pumpkin Patch. Kids can pick their own pumpkin, carve it into a spooky masterpiece, and snap a photo with seasonal scarecrow and wheelbarrow displays.

On Friday October 31, a pumpkin trail takes place from 10am to 3pm at Castleford market.

 COUNCILLOR TONY WALLIS - JANUARY 2025 NEWSLETTER     HAPPY NEW YEAR I trust you had a good start to the New Year (freezing stormy weather apart.) TRAIN AND TRACK I reported a couple of months ago the the canopy on Carlton Street was to be taken down. It has now happened. This is financed by the Transpenine Route Upgrade “first and last mile” fund. This will also fund improvements to Station Road, Tickle Cock Bridge and the Beancroft Road subway including CCTV and enhanced lighting. TransPenine Express has increased the frequency of its train journeys between Manchester and York via Castleford and Wakefield to one an hour, seven days a week.  I have expressed our gratitude for this to the train company while pointing out aspiration for some services to go to Scarborough.
