CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING OF NEWS AND EVENTS 21 OCTOBER 2025
21 October 2025 Compiled by Tony Wallis of 'Talk Castleford with Tony’
In News there is a link to a new fascinating video about this year’s Roman Festival. It’s excellent that the council, local groups and local organisations come together to make this annual festival a treat for residents and visitors. Have you any ideas about ways Castleford can support its Roman heritage?

Council cabinet discusses Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) today
CIL is a levy that developers pay on new developments to the council. The money is spent on infrastructure projects. Each year, the council produces a report on where the money is spent.
For 2024/2025, the following projects for Castleford were approved:
- £99,000 is committed to improvements to the Valley Gardens Castleford Play Area.
 - £69,840.15 is committed to the final parts of the Castleford Market works.
 - £300,000 was committed to Castleford Housing Development in 2018. This money, now in the capital program, is to support the delivery of housing regeneration schemes at Stansfield Road and Wheldale Farm.
 - £5,000 was spent at the Potteries memorial site in Castleford.
 - Although not in the town, you’ll find this interesting: £250,000 is committed to an extension of Pontefract Cemetery.

Events subject to change. Please check with the organiser before visiting.
