CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING OF NEWS AND EVENTS 23 SEPTEMBER 2025
Compiled by Tony Wallis
As a father and grandfather I know how stressful it can be when a baby cries and does not seem to be comforted easily. Luckily, the ICON method helps. This week is ICON week (see 'Events' below).
The ICON message is simple:
• I – Infant crying is normal and will stop.
• C – Comfort methods can sometimes soothe your baby.
• O – It’s OK to walk away for a few minutes if your baby is safe and the crying feels too much.
• N – Never shake or hurt a baby.
Despite her busy schedule our MP, Yvette Cooper, regularly talks to her constituents. The BBC followed her on one such walk. A link to the article is under 'News' below. What do you think of the points raised?

Every morning I compile a helpful briefing of the latest news and events for Castleford. Initially intended to help me as a local councillor, I now publish it to the public. I hope you find it useful.
