CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING OF NEWS AND EVENTS 18 SEPTEMBER 2025

 Compiled by Tony Wallis

Good morning (it's morning when I'm writing this). There has been plenty of interesting comments on social media about the discussion of the town centre I started. I want to thank one contributor, Kat Metallist Potter, for a wonderful comment that fits the the philosophy of 'Talk Castleford with Tony'. So good, I'm putting it in bold.

"I also believe that the good people in Castleford are an untapped resource. More public consultation about spending, gathering the community to become a united force and I know we all have been heartily disappointed with the civic pride we used to have."

One result of that comment, I've added "Consulations" on this blog to go with "news" and "events". This won't be just external ones, I'll also set up our own under "Talk Caslteford with Tony'.

Flying the flag is a topic at the moment. As one of the councillors who spoke and voted in favor of national flags on public buildings, I'm pleased the council is to consult on flying flags. What are your views on this topic?

Every morning I compile a helpful briefing of the latest news and events for Castleford. Initially intended to help me as a local councillor, I now publish it to the public. I hope you find it useful.
