COUNCIL RESOLUTION As a council we strive to achieve that all our residents are safe both in public and in their homes. That is why I and my Labour colleagues support the motion from Councillor Maureen Cummings to increase the actions of tackling violence against women and girls. These measures include working with victims and services to understand the impact, ensuring education about healthy relationships, appointing a champion and a requirement that an update on actions goes to scrutiny within 12 months. All women and girls should be treated with respect and not fear violence. The council has just announced that some enforcement officers will wear body cameras as a deterrent and to record any evidence of anti-social behavior against them. Back to council business, the portfolio holder for resources and property announced the sale of Castleford Civic Centre.
