CASTLEFORD DAILY BRIEFING OF NEWS AND EVENTS 9 OCTOBER 2025
I hope you are keeping well and enjoying these crisp autumn mornings. There’s a real buzz around town this week with a mix of new projects, community get-togethers, and a few important reminders of what really matters. Every day’s a chance to do something good for our community, and Castleford folk never fail to step up.
Lots happening across the district: Asda’s moving ahead with its new Express store on the old Airedale Hotel site, great to see another investment bringing life back into that corner of town. We’re also getting new electric vehicle chargers across the district thanks to funding from West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Blink. Big thumbs up for cleaner travel and a greener future!
👍
And there’s plenty on the events front: “Tea and Tech” sessions, toddler fun at the museum, smokefree support, and early excitement building for the Christmas lights switch-on next month.
Amid the good news, we’re also thinking of the family and friends of the young Castleford worker who tragically lost his life in the Crewe crane collapse — a sobering reminder of why safety and care for one another matter so much.
❤️
So, over to you. What caught your eye today? Have you been to any of this week’s events, or are you planning something new for our community? Got ideas to share, concerns to raise, or just a memory of “old Cas” you’d like to bring up? Pop your thoughts in the comments below or join the chat on the 'Talk Castleford with Tony' Facebook page. Every voice adds something special and together, we keep Castleford moving forward, one good day at a time.
